Derek Parker is on the Board of Directors of Anshen + Allen Architects, with offices in San Francisco, Seattle, Boston, Salt Lake City, and London. An internationally recognized expert in the design of healthcare and research facilities, Parker has designed and planned over 50 major hospitals, diagnostic care centers, hospices, and medical research institutes in his 47 years with the firm.
A registered architect in the United Kingdom, The Peoples Republic of China, and in many States in the U.S., Derek has designed projects in the U.S., Canada, Australia, China, Japan, Philippines, England, Italy, and Turkey. He has speaking engagements worldwide. He has been a Trustee for the California College of Arts and Crafts; has served as president of the Bay Area Comprehensive Health Planning Council; director of the Hospice of Marin; is a former member of the both Architectural Advisory Committee of Stanford University; and Design Review Committee at the University of California, Berkeley; and Consulting Architect at the University of California Medical Center, San Francisco.
Derek currently is a Board Emeritus for The Center for Health Design and serves on the Board on Infrastructure and the Constructed Environment (BICE) of the National Research Council; the Laguna Honda Foundation; the Practicum faculty for the doctoral program at the University of Hawaii; and advisory faculty for doctoral program of the College of Architecture at Georgia Tech.
