Through their membership support, CHD Affiliates help us to develop tools and resources that are changing the way healthcare facilities are designed. This community of like-minded people believes that the design of the built environment can reduce the cost of care and improve health outcomes.

"We look to the research that's been done by The Center for Health Design to provide some evidence that the things that we do are going to work, and that they are going to provide real and tangible benefits to the hospital."
"The wealth of knowledge available at The Center in regards to research, articles, and other sources has certainly helped us to be wiser and be more factual in our pursuit to promote our work and its proper and effective placement in healthcare settings."

The Importance of being a Center for Health Design Affiliate Member

I decided to become a CHD Affiliate member last year while filling out the HEALTHCARE DESIGN.11 conference registration. I was going to Nashville to attend the HCD conference to learn all I could in three days—and there were so many choices of sessions and speakers! There was simply not enough time for everything I wanted to do; with dozens of continuing EDAC and IIDA education sessions, hundreds of new healthcare products to see, meeting up with old friends and making new ones, before come returning to the office, tired but inspired.
CHD provides so much to conference attendees, but what could one person do to give back to CHD? It was then that I decided to become an Individual Affiliate Member. I could help support CHD in their research, which in turn, helps me in my work. This is truly a win-win situation!
As a part of the EDAC team at CBLH Design, an EDAC Advocate firm, we strive to educate our clients on evidence-based design, (EBD). CHD provides many resources to Affiliate Members, such as the discount on the HERD Journal, a useful healthcare design tool that expands my EBD knowledge and access to the CHD Research Coalition’s reports, which keep me informed on the latest EBD research.
Being a CHD Affiliate allows me to contribute to supporting evidence-based design research being done on the behalf of healthcare providers and patients everywhere. As a healthcare interior designer working with healthcare facilities on a daily basis, I know the design knowledge I bring to each project, affects the environment from patient outcomes and staff safety, to the ability to reduce stress levels of all who enter that environment. And, that alone is enough.
