Meet the Experts: EDAC Workshop Speakers Announced
HCD.08 is just around the corner! The EDAC Preparation Seminar is being finalized and revamped. Here is the brand new session description:
| The Evidence-based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC) program is designed for anyone interested in becoming more knowledgeable about the evidence-based design process to learn, study, and pass the EDAC exam. Information and theories about evidence-based design (EBD) have saturated the design industry. Until now, a standardized EBD context or process has never existed.
Maximize your chances for becoming EDAC accredited! Join the experts who developed the educational materials for a lively, informative and practical workshop. This session begins with an overview of the EDAC program and exam, followed by an expert panel discussing the key steps in an EBD process. An interactive case study will then help develop critical thinking about the EBD process through discussions and break-out sessions.
|
Important Note: The session time has changed! If you had previously saw this listed as a full day, change your calendar--this session is rescheduled to 11:15 am-3:00 pm. In addition to this time, take advantage of the other inspiring EBD sessions in the morning and afternoon. Lunch will be provided at the workshop.

The EDAC Buzz: HCD.08
You won't be able to miss EDAC at this year's Healthcare Design Conference. From signage to workshops and handouts, to drawings, we have it all! Our educational sponsor, Nurture by Steelcase has donated their Think Chair for an EDAC drawing. Check out this amazing chair!
Think is the chair with a brain and a conscience. It's intelligent enough to understand how you sit and adjusts itself intuitively. It's thoughtful enough to measure and minimize its lifelong impact on the environment. In fact, the Think chair is the first product to ever receive Cradle to Cradle™ Product Certification from McDonough Braugart Design Chemistry's (MBDC). Designed by Glen Oliver Low. In developing the Think chair, Nurture considered where it comes from, how it is made, and what it will be when it's no longer a chair.
A few more environmental facts about Think:
- Up to 98% recyclable by weight
- Disassembly for recycling takes about five minutes using common hand tools (hammer, screwdriver, etc.)
- Up to 37% recycled content
- Think holds the NF Environment Label in France for environmental quality
- Think has SCS Indoor Advantage Gold certification for indoor air quality. This certification helps the Think chair contribute toward earning a LEED point for low emitting furniture.
