EDAC Update: February 2008
In the last two months, we have added more than 125 healthcare professionals to our monthly EDAC updates! Each month we share the latest information regarding program development and volunteer opportunities. We invite you to share this information with your colleagues.
Recent Activities
In mid January, CHD’s EDAC team and members of the executive committee met with Nurture by Steelcase representatives Phyllis Goetz, Joyce Bromberg and Libby Ferin to discuss how CHD and Nurture will work together to produce the EDAC educational tools. Our heartfelt thanks to Nurture for understanding the importance of EDAC and participating in the development of the program’s educational tools and helping CHD bring this program to market.
On January 28, Laura Ellington gave an EDAC presentation to the attendees at the Arab Health Hospital Design and Upgrade 2008 conference in Dubai, U.A.E. This was the second international EDAC presentation, the first being Alberto Salvatore’s presentation to the IIDEX NeoCon audience in Toronto, Canada last fall. Both international venues expressed interest in the program. If your company or organization would like to learn more about EDAC, please call Laura Ellington at The Center.
At the end of January, 2008, Katie Kronick and Carolyn Quist traveled to Toronto, Canada to meet with Embanet, the course development company that is guiding the creation of the EDAC educational tools.
Exam:
CHD’s EDAC exam committee is currently engaged in a series of meetings with experts from the design and hospital communities to review the exam components: Evidence-Based Design for Healthcare, Research, Predesign, Design, and Construction and Occupancy. Feedback gathered will be reviewed by the committee under the leadership of Applied Measurement Professionals the psychometric firm working with CHD.
Educational Resources:
Approaching the development of these resources with as much fervor as the exam itself, work has begun on the educational tools for EDAC candidates. The EDAC team is creating the framework for the three study guides: Research, the Healthcare Delivery System, and Design Process.
Upcoming Activities
Over the next few months, The Center for Health Design staff and industry experts will create an in depth EDAC program for HEALTHCARE DESIGN 08. This program will be a deep dive into the material and help prepare candidates for the exam. Look forward to updates on our progress over the next few months.
