EDAC Update: March 2008

We now have almost 150 professionals receiving the EDAC updates and the list is growing every day! Each month we share the latest information regarding program development and volunteer opportunities.  We invite you to share this information with your colleagues.

Recent Activities

This last month, the EDAC team has been steadily working on the exam and study guides.  We are making progress every day.  Additionally, we have been meeting with our partners at Nurture by Steelcase about how we can educate more people about the value EDAC will bring to the industry.

We have also started to finalize the schedule for HEALTHCARE DESIGN 08, our conference in November.  We will have two EDAC related sessions for attendees.  The first session is a day long seminar to prepare EDAC candidates for the exam.  The second is one hour long and will provide general information about the EDAC program.  Here are brief summaries of the EDAC sessions at HCD 08:

EDAC Exam Preparation Seminar

Conference attendees have the opportunity to learn EDAC content directly from the experts who wrote the study guides and exam.  This educational seminar is preparatory for the EDAC exam.  The day will be broken into four sections:

  • Part 1: An EDAC Overview
  • Part 2: Deep-dive 1
  • Part 3: Deep-dive 2
  • Part 4: Panel Discussion

After the overview, the attendees will be broken into three groups, which correspond with topics covered in the study materials: healthcare delivery system, research, and the design process.  This will give each person the opportunity to gain detailed information about two of three sections.  These will be interactive sessions wherein attendees can ask questions of the experts who put together the content.  To conclude the day, there will be a panel discussion with all the experts to ask general and detailed questions about the program.  This should be a great seminar for individuals who are eager to become EDAC accredited.

All You Need to Know about EDAC

During this roundtable, speakers will explain the reality and fiction of Evidence-Based Assessment and Certification (EDAC). This session is most appropriate for people who still have questions as to whether EDAC is right for them and receive details about the exam logistics.  Topics that will be covered are:

  • How becoming EDAC accredited can improve your projects and work
  • Information on exam preparation
  • The continuing education requirements
  • Details on the program development
  • Much more

Upcoming Activities

In addition to our work on the conference sessions, the exam, and the study resources, we will be working hard to educate more people in the industry about EDAC.
