"The Business Case for Better Buildings"
An Executive Program Presented by The Center for Health Design and Turner Healthcare.
The forecast of annual capital spending on health facilities rising from $15 billion today to $25 billion in the year 2010 makes the "better building" topic timely.
Our country's need for new healthcare facilities gives us a rare opportunity to use the emerging science of evidence-based design to build better buildings that improve patient care and staff loyalty, medical outcomes, safety, institutional productivity, and financial performance -- while decreasing medical errors and waste.
This 2.5 hour program -- which has been developed by The Center for Health Design's multi-disciplinary board of healthcare executives, strategists, medical practitioners, design professionals, and researchers -- starts by looking at the areas of research and practice of evidence-based design.
Using data from The Center's Pebble Project, we present a composite 300-bed "Fable Hospital" that makes the business case for better buildings that contribute to better and safer healthcare.
