Patients, doctors, nurses, medical assistants, administrators and others at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization (MGPO) have joined an effort to improve the experience of visiting the doctor’s office.  They envision opening a new MGH adult primary care practice in late 2007, located on or near the main MGH campus in downtown Boston, which will provide services for MGH employees and their adult dependents.

Because MGH is a self-insured institution, doing so in Phase 1 will allow for greater flexibility in innovation implementation and evaluation.  This practice, the Ambulatory Practice of the Future (APF), will be an innovative practice, designed to feel very different from today’s doctor’s office. No design firm has been selected yet.
