In 2005 M.D. Anderson opened a 781,000-gross-square-feet Ambulatory Clinical Building that is the first of several clinical buildings on the Houston Main Building site.
The new buildings include eight levels of clinic, diagnostic, treatment and office space, including a public access floor and a mechanical mezzanine. The facility design incorporates a unique village-like design, which encourages patient/staff interactions, and will contribute to the institution's emphasis on comfort and healing.
Its Pebble Project is measuring employee turnover, cost per unit of service, and patient satisfaction. Architects and designers for the project are Kaplan, McLaughlin-Diaz; FKP; and O'Neil, Hill.
