This report is the result of a partnership between The Center for Health Design and The California Health Care Foundation. Research shows that the physical environment of health care facilities affects patients, staff, and families by impacting patient safety and quality of care. Recent analyses of the physical features of health care facilities have primarily focused on acute care settings, but there is some evidence that the physical environment plays an important role in outpatient settings as well. Health Environments Research & Design (HERD) Journal

The Health Environments Research and Design Journal (HERD) is produced by Vendome Group in conjunction with The Center for Health Design. HERD is an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal whose mission is to enhance the knowledge and practice of evidence-based healthcare design by disseminating research findings, discussing issues and trends, and translating research to practice. Improving Healthcare with Better Building Design

Book edited by Sara O. Marberry and published by the Health Administration Press. Based on the work of The Center for Health Design, this book is written by a group of healthcare and design experts who are leading the movement to improve the quality of healthcare with better building design.
