This role at a glance:
This is an excellent opportunity for you to join NBBJ in our Healthcare Consulting Studio as a Healthcare Clinician. We are seeking a clinical healthcare leader experienced in 1.Procedures environment (ORs, Interventional, Cath/EP), and/or 2. Pediatric and/or Women’s Health, and/or 3. Transition planning with expertise in process improvement, behavioral/practice change, and staff readiness related to operationalizing new built environments to join our team. This position is both strategic and tactical, and a successful candidate will have great project management skills and be comfortable working in a fast paced environment, on a high performance team. The individual will work both internally within a project team and externally with our current clients and/or prospective clients and must have a passion for collaboration and communication. Our ideal candidate will be based in the Seattle area; however, we are open to candidates located in one of our other cities of operation which include: Boston, Columbus, London, Los Angeles, New York, Portland, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.
In your new role:
- Work with project teams from visioning through design to define program and operational needs; documenting information in space program and functional narratives
- Research best practices and trends in healthcare, especially those relevant to facility planning and operational optimization
- Lead transition management teams for healthcare organizations that need the strong clinical and project management skills that are needed to take an organization to full scale activation
- Identify services and operational solutions that will deliver value to our client’s enterprise (transition services, research, operational analysis, etc.)
- Work with analysts to evaluate and deliver demographic projections and work load analyses that are involved in future planning and master plans
- Take ownership as the firm’s clinical procedures specialist
- Deliver presentations at national professional meetings, and publish in professional journals
- Participate in interviews for prospective work for both consulting as well as on larger design project teams
What you will need to succeed:
- Minimum of 8-10 years proven clinical experience in acute care hospitals; experience in procedural environment (ORs, Interventional, Cath/EP), Pediatric and/or Women’s Health, and/or Transition Planning (Operational Relocation Readiness/Activation) required
- Registered Nurse required, advanced degree desirable (MHA/MBA/MSN)
- Lean Certification with experience leading and facilitating events including Kaizen Events, A3 Problem Solving teams, Rapid Improvement Workshops, and 3P Design Workshops required
- Management/Administrative experience (3-4 years) needed; can be over multiple areas or service lines
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to interact with C-suite leadership as well as staff and physicians at department level and present at professional meetings/interviews
- Strength in working with high performance teams to reach consensus through facilitation and completed tasks
- Ability to develop a project team, strong time management skills, detail oriented and good follow through on tasks
- Experience with consulting, project management, facility design and/or transitioning departments/hospitals into new environments a real plus!
- Passion for creating environments that improve future health and wellness

- Solid computer skills in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, others)
- Willingness to travel to support the firm as a firm wide resource (Travel time varies; average 30%)
The annual base pay range for this role is anticipated to be between $100,000 and $140,000. Actual compensation for successful candidates will be carefully determined based on a number of factors, including their skills, qualifications, location, and experience.
