The School of Interior Design at Louisiana State University invites applications for one full time, nine-month, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Successful applicants will demonstrate a commitment to scholarly productivity, teaching excellence, and service to the university and profession. Candidates are expected to develop and teach innovative design studios, core courses integrating design with specialized knowledge, and electives enriched by the candidate’s area of design or creative scholarship. The typical teaching load includes one 6 credit hour design studio and one 3 credit hour core course or elective each semester. Applicants holding a Ph.D. will have opportunities to participate in the multi-track Doctor of Design degree program in the College of Art + Design. The appointment will be effective August, 2023.
Terminal degree in Interior Design or a closely related field. Evidence of or potential for teaching effectiveness, and scholarship.
Preference will be given to candidates who have one or more of the following qualifications:
- Ph.D. with at least one degree in interior design or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
- Professional Certification: NCIDQ or NCIDQ eligible.
- Other Certifications: EDAC, LEED, WELL, and/or Fitwell.
- A record of college-level teaching record as graduate student, instructor or above.
- Ability to contribute to a collegial and cooperative working environment. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to teach and conduct research in healthcare, human behavior and performance, and/or environmental and social sustainability.
- Professional practice experience.
