Patient-Centered Design Innovation Summit 2018

Join the leaders in health facility design for the Patient-Centered Design Innovation Summit, October 6-8, 2018 in Charleston, SC. In partnership with the MUSC Center for Transformation, we will collaborate with design practitioners, researchers, clinicians and patients to develop solutions for health facility accommodations.

Learning objectives:

In each of the following departments (Cardiology & ICU, Emergency Department & Behavioral Health, Acute Care & Developmental Disability, Hematology, Oncology, and Outpatient Surgery), participants will:
  • Identify, through conversation and discussion from a diverse panel (patients, family, health care providers) the condition-specific needs of patients and families receiving care 
  • Discuss the strategies with design professionals, patients, families and healthcare providers that are currently used by Child Life Specialists to address these needs creatively, and brainstorm on equivalent design solutions
  • Map the current patient/family experience, in search of design opportunities 
  • Identify potential design opportunities by utilizing the pediatric strategies reviewed for adult environments
