This webinar will focus on a case study on the efficient design of one of the largest treatment centers for infectious diseases in the U.S. The University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston’s new six-bed bio-containment critical care unit will serve as a multifunctional patient care space that is equipped to treat patients with the most highly contagious diseases. Presenters will outline the unique parameters of caring for patients affected by special pathogens, such as Ebola, and the design considerations that were taken to create a healing environment that is safe, functional, and comfortable. If you are involved in healthcare or looking for insight designing sensitive healing environments, this is the session for you.

Zach Mitchell is a Senior Architectural Associate, who specializes in healthcare and health science architecture. After graduating from Texas Tech University, with a Masters of Architecture and Urban Design, Zach joined PhiloWilke Partnership. He has since cultivated a unique portfolio as an experienced project manager and designer for emergency, pediatric and critical care projects. His ability to see the practicality and functionality of a space, while maintaining an exceptional and interesting design method, makes him an effective communicator and team leader.
