"Humanizing Behavioral Health Spaces Through Design"

A presentation about the recently-completed Behavioral Health Unit at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. Situated on two floors of an existing hospital, the 22-bed renovation project promotes recovery, mindfulness and safety. Designed to simulate the activities of daily living, the facility includes private spaces for patient bedrooms, transitional zones, and communal spaces for dining, activities and interactions with fellow patients and staff. Hear from the project team about creating a welcoming environment that removes the stigma associated with mental healthcare.
