Substance use disorder (SUD) facility designers are increasingly turning to “evidence-based design” to support patients better. Scott Holmes, facilitator of The Center's Behavioral and Mental Health Environment Network (BMHEN) – a network of senior and executive-level healthcare facilities, design and manufacturing/consulting professionals involved in the design and oversight of behavioral and mental health environments – shares with Behavioral Health Business how design choices with an emphasis in evidence are imperative when treating patients with behavioral health conditions.
