Consumer awareness is growing. Big tech and healthcare systems are battling for mindshare. What can brick-and-mortar and digital design solutions do to impact outpatient consumers’ decision making?
Gensler’s Outpatient Experience Index (O-EXI) survey reveals that healthcare consumers are changing where and how they receive outpatient care while continuing in-person visits. From ethnic minorities and behavioral health patients changing care providers, to increased disengagement from working women, these findings show that outpatient design impacts physical wellness and health engagement, and accounted for more than 72 percent of outpatient loyalty.
Nicholas Watkins, Ph.D., Global Health Sector Research Lead, Gensler
Dr. Watkins is Gensler’s Health Research Lead. His professional work focuses on the interactions between humans and their built environments that reflect excellence in design and contribute to well-being and productivity. His research findings on healthcare, workplace, arts + culture, and education settings can be found in several refereed publications and venues. He has served as an EDRA board member and Chair, and his design research of workplace settings has impacted organizations’ national and international guideline development. He was recognized as one of the top ten leaders in healthcare design with an HCD 10 honor during the award’s inaugural year.
Scot Latimer, FAIA, ACHA, Principal, Global Health Sector Leader, Gensler
Scot Latimer is among North America’s best-known and most sought-after healthcare strategists. His area of emphasis is the deployment of resources to create health systems – hospital and physician networks – which deliver on the promise of population health in terms of access and efficiency. Scot is best known for his work with large, integrated organizations including academic medical centers and children’s hospitals. He has conducted peer-reviewed research in the area of health facility planning, has spoken on a range of planning topics in dozens of venues, and has been quoted in major media including the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, and National Public Radio.
James Crispino, AIA, NCARB, Principal, Co-Global Practice Area Leader – Healthcare, Gensler
Jim Crispino’s career has been dedicated to planning and designing innovative facilities for academic medical centers, research institutes, and healthcare providers. His work investigates and synthesizes new technologies, human activity/behavior-based programs, and spatial models to create architectural typologies that further his clients' missions. He is a visiting critic at The New School-Parsons Design, NJIT, Carnegie Mellon University, Drexel University, and MIT DesignX. Jim has sat on the AIA Board of Directors for Pennsylvania and New York State. He sits on the Design Advisory Board for Healthcare Design. Jim is a registered architect in 12 states and a graduate of Drexel University.
Many attendees of The Center for Health Design’s webinars have inquired about IDCEC approval so they can earn ASID, IIDA, and IDS CEU’s. We have looked into this and unfortunately, the cost to upload courses to IDCEC is simply too high at this time. You can still earn credit for attending our webinars by requesting a verification certificate. As of July 9, 2020, The Center for Health Design requires a CEU management fee for verification certificates for all webinars and EBD Journal Clubs.
