About This Clinic

Located in the Midtown District of Houston, an area of the city that is in the process of revitalization, the CHRISTUS Moran Health Center is a welcome addition.

The San Jose Clinic, the oldest continually operating free health clinic in the United States, provides over 18 specialty healthcare services, including medical, dental and mental health, to the uninsured and underserved residents of the City of Houston.

The Midtown Neighborhood is an area of Houston that has other community service organizations, such as SEARCH and; are located on adjacent blocks serving as the catalyst for the selection of this site. Further contextual considerations were to the mid-century architecture which results in a generative influence concerning form, mass and materials of the clinic. Further, materials selected begin to imbue the character of Midtown, through metal panel and manufactured stone, with glazing systems allowing for release of the interior to the community.
