Examining the Effects of Positive Distractions in Pediatric Environments: A Methodological Comparison of Two Studies

Positive distractions have been found to reduce stress and improve healthcare outcomes. However, research on this topic is generally lacking in certain pediatric settings. This webinar will detail recent studies that examined the effects of positive distraction interventions on pediatric patients and their families but used different methods in different settings. The research processes including methods and the rationales behind methodological decisions will be discussed. Recommendations regarding feasible research methods to be used in similar settings will be provided.  The research findings from both studies will be shared and discussed. The in-depth findings and practical knowledge regarding the process of implementing two similar research studies will be beneficial to both researchers and designers.
