Hospital and outpatient settings are generally designed to support single-condition patients who are capable of maintaining both physical and cognitive independence. The design of healthcare facilities needs to be carefully reconsidered in order to meet the needs of older adults (many with cognitive impairments) as well as those who accompany them.
