Chris Haddox PhD

Assistant Professor of Sustainable Design
West Virginia University

Chris Haddox, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Sustainable Design at West Virginia University.  His teaching efforts revolve around the Minor in Sustainable Design—a robust program he created while a Visiting Assistant Professor at WVU.  This minor draws students from across the university who wish to broaden their thinking about the design, development, and management of our communities. Chris is developing a three-pronged research agenda focused on evidence-based design of rural health care facilities, affordable housing, and music-based community development.  A common thread running through these initiatives is community stakeholder engagement.  Chris was awarded a grant in the Big XII Faculty Fellowship program to develop a partnership with health design colleagues at Texas Tech University. Chris is a long-standing member of the Board of Directors of Green Advantage®, a national, ANSI Accredited third party environmental certification program, and is Chair of the Woodburn School Redevelopment Commission with the City of Morgantown.
