    Rush University Medical Center sought to create a new patient experience tailored to the unique preferences of the residents living in the River North neighborhood while expanding access. They also sought to create a forward-thinking operational model with an emphasis on leveraging technology.

    Corgan was tasked to design these two new environments to work as one and, through a collaborative visioning process, a single vision was achieved. The project ultimately included a 40,000 square-foot inpatient renovation and a 27,000 square-foot outpatient renovation.

    This body of work culminated in the creation of a Patient Field Guide to introduce the new hospital tower to patients and their families. The Field Guide highlights the hospital’s many thoughtfully designed features and amenities, while also situating the building contextually within Piedmont Atlanta Hospital’s health campus and the surrounding community.

    The goal of this project was to design a layout for the new family medicine clinic at The University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation that supports patient self-rooming (an innovation in their clinic setting). The self-rooming concept helps reduce wait times for patients, improves infection control, increases privacy and maximizes staff efficiency.

    The goal of this project was to implement all-private patient room units (with the exception of enlarged rooms for twins/multiples); provide clear visibility and direct line of sight to all patients; increase privacy and offer greater support for mothers to nurse and have “kangaroo care” time with their newborns; improve family and nurse/physician communication; and reduce overall noise levels on the units.
