About:

NEW IDEAS, NEW CONNECTIONS, NEW INSIGHTS

What’s new in healthcare design? What’s changing? Who’s doing what and where? And what do your local colleagues think about it all?

Using Smart Building Solutions to Reduce Operating Costs and Enhancing Occupant Experience

Christopher Pietrzykowski, Director, AdvanTEC, United Technologies Corporation, will describe the process used for a recently completed LEED Platinum state-of-the-art intelligent building located in Jupiter FL that will serve as a headquarters office, conference center and customer showcase. This 224,000 sq. ft. multipurpose building built on 30 acres has been designed for 500+ employees and up to 500 conference center employees provides an example of how making use of advanced building solutions can create an environment that enhances building occupant experience, increases operational efficiencies as well as  protect people and property. This presentation aims to show how advanced solutions that exist today are directly relevant and applicable to healthcare facilities to achieve desired outcomes such as reducing cost of operations and increasing patient and staff satisfaction. Examples of some of the solutions to be covered by this presentation are as follows; use of improved ventilation to increase occupant cognitive function, use of a building occupant mobile phone application to automatically adapt a space to the occupants preferences, find people in the building, wayfinding and gain access to secure spaces, use of occupancy information to not only manage ventilation, comfort and energy use but also help decision makers understand building space usage, occupant movement and wait times, this presentation will also cover the use of building data analytics in support of CapEx planning, identifying performance problems as well as helping to eliminate waste.
