Microhospitals have become popular in many areas as a solution to help health systems grow market share and deliver greater value. Microhospitals require a clear strategy, a sound operational model, and a clinical support plan in order to be successful. The potential for a significant impact on a health system’s future in response to the changing economics and clinical delivery of healthcare is exciting. This session will share experiences in planning microhospitals, discuss key operational areas, and illustrate clinical innovations that would support this model.

Phil DeBruzzi, FACHE, Director, Navigant
Phil DeBruzzi, FACHE is a Director with Navigant's Healthcare Facility Planning Team. Navigant is a national healthcare consulting firm advising providers, payers, medical technology, and physician practices. Mr. DeBruzzi is passionate about developing facility investment strategies that advance an organization’s mission. Mr. DeBruzzi is an expert in regional network design, facility/campus master planning, market analysis and clinical activity forecasting, ambulatory network planning, and return on investment feasibility analysis. He is called upon frequently to present at industry conferences on these topics. Phil is board certified in healthcare management as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, holds an MBA in strategy, as well as an undergraduate degree in Architectural Engineering.
Rod Booze, Principal, Environments for Health
Rod Booze is an award-winning architect and industry expert in healthcare design and development and provides leadership for E4H's practice. Rod is Board Certified in healthcare in the health planning, project management, and project administration of health care facilities. Rod serves as the managing principal responsible for operations and client management in the Southwest office. Rod has directed in excess of one thousand health care projects and forty dedicated new or replacement hospitals, culminating in health planning for the recently funded $1 billion international healthcare campus in Ikitelli, Turkey. Additionally, Rod has had a significant presence in the development of micro-hospitals directing implementation for over ten dedicated facilities to date. Rod received a Bachelor of architecture and Master of architecture degree from the University of Texas at Arlington with additional undergraduate degrees from Brigham Young University.
