In this webinar, attendees will learn how the University of Virginia Medical Center was able to improve the patient experience and increase individualized patient care by moving its endoscopy department outside of the main hospital campus. The department needed a strategic growth opportunity to increase capacity, improve patient experience, and provide a state-of-the-art facility for patients and clinicians. Since the new center has been in operation, patient population growth has risen and satisfaction has reflected the user experience and operational planning. By relocating the service line, the endoscopy practice has been able to specialize care and improve overall patient outcomes.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify the operational challenges of running an off-site procedural center.

  • Discover planning opportunities and design interventions to improve the operational efficiencies and optimize space.

  • Discuss patient and clinical satisfaction resulting from this newly designed setting.

  • Explore the benefits of relocation for facility operation, patient safety, and branding strategies.
