Agenda

Where does safety fit and how does it become a focus?

Designed to support the requirements of the 2014 FGI Guidelines for Construction of Hospitals and Outpatient Facilities, the new CHD Safety Risk Assessment toolkit is a research-based, proactive approach to new construction and renovation in health care settings.

The healthcare facility design process is complex and requires juggling many different types of information to make informed and balanced decisions that impact outcomes. This interactive workshop will allow participants to:

  • understand key issues associated with six safety areas (infection control, patient handling, falls, medication safety, behavioral health, security)
  • gain hands-on experience using the tool in a hypothetical renovation project
  • interact with a faculty of subject matter experts
  • review this newly developed CHD Safety Risk Assessment toolkit
