NOVEMBER 2019
It's Conference Time
Here we are – one day before the start of Healthcare Design Expo & Conference. The four conference days are bound to go quickly, filled with inspiring keynote presentations, seeing old friends, making new friends and attending sessions to learn from the industry's best. Make sure you're getting the most out of your time and investment with these helpful tips:
1. Comfortable shoes are an absolute must. Don't underestimate how hard all this is on your feet - you will cover more miles than you think.
2. Download the HCD Expo & Conference app and schedule sessions to attend, booths to visit, meetings with exhibitors and more.
3. Don't plan out every minute. Leave time for those happy surprises and coincidental meetings of friends both old and new.
4. Dress in layers. Even if it's warm outside, it can be cold inside.
5. Try new things – go to at least one session that seems outside of your domain.
Be well,
Debra Levin, Hon. FASID, EDAC
President and CEO

Through this, the surgical services grew across five buildings in a fractured arrangement that wasn't conducive to optimal patient care. In 2011, the hospital engaged Ballinger (Philadelphia) to con conceptualize options to consolidate the campus' surgical services.

Considerations For Operations During Renovations
|
Hospitals are complex. Renovating hospitals is even more complex. Take into consideration existing medical systems, heat loads, and major utility shut-offs – not to mention the utmost priority that is patient care – in a dust-free, soundfree environment that seamlessly continues uninterrupted patient care. To do it well takes a village.

Rising Up: Reducing Carbon Materials' Carbon Footprint
|
Sustainable design challenge: reducing building materials' carbon footprint: For may years, addressing energy in healthcare design has focused on reducing the energy required to operate buildings. This approach is important, as there are clear health benefits associated with lowering air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, both of which impact human health. Yet the energy efficiency of buildings can no longer be our only strategy when it comes to reducing a buiding's carbon footprint.
