RESEARCH, DESIGN & OUTCOMES | 2024 PDC SUMMIT

As of 2022, more than 5 million academic articles and research papers are published annually. How do busy professionals figure out what's relevant and decide where to spend their time when it comes to research? Without a guide, interesting new research insights can slip through the cracks.

The Knowledge Repository is an open-access, online, expert-curated and searchable database for research about the built environment. Developed by The Center for Health Design with support from the American Society for Health Care Engineering, the American Institute of Architects’ Academy of Architecture for Health, Facility Guidelines Institute and the Nursing Institute for Healthcare Design, the Knowledge Repository can help owners, planners and designers find evidence to support design decisions and advance project goals.

Following an overview of the Knowledge Repository and recently added functions to enhance usability, The Center’s research team will present their quick takes on six picks of recently published design research papers. Attendees will gain insights on why each study matters, how the research was done, the findings and limitations, and a primary takeaway. Hear what is new and noteworthy from the past year in this unique and always-popular rapid-fire session.
