Gary Fischer, AIA, serves as Senior Healthcare Architect in the Department of Veterans Affairs Facilities Standards Service Office, Office of Facilities Planning, Office of Construction and Facilities Management. In this role Mr. Fischer manages the development and update of space, equipment, planning, and design standards for VA Medical Facility design and construction projects.
Prior to joining the Department of Veterans Affairs Gary had a 35 year career in the design and construction of healthcare projects in the public and private healthcare sectors. His project experience includes planning and design work for the private sector with a focus on Academic Medical Centers, Tertiary Hospitals, Community Hospitals, Outpatient Facilities and Mental Health Facilities. In previous design and planning work for the public sector Gary provided programming and planning services for VA projects including: Anchorage, AL, Columbus, OH, Cleveland, Ohio, and Biloxi, MS.
