Nate joined the Cleveland Clinic in 2020. In this role, he is responsible for the Clinic’s Construction and Engineering programs.  Under his leadership, he is tasked with ensuring every facility is designed and constructed to the clinic’s exacting quality standards to address patient needs.  This encompasses a footprint of 40 million square feet in the enterprise covering three states and four countries.

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic, Nate worked at the Defense Health Agency as the Facilities Executive leading a staff of 400 civilian and military multi-disciplined professionals in the lifecycle management of a $38B global healthcare infrastructure with a $3B capital and operations budget.   He developed policy; programmed budgets and resources while managing projects in 54 medical centers, 620 medical and dental clinics encompassing 90 million square feet and 4,700 beds at more than 270 locations around the globe.

The assignment at the Defense Health Agency culminated Nate’s 20+ year career as a Navy Civil Engineer Corps Officer, where he held a succession of appointments, with increasing responsibility, in numerous countries and across multiple deployments.  Nate led construction, facilities management, environmental research and development, logistics, and equipment systems procurement for the US Navy and Department of Defense. 

Nate holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from The University of Maryland, along with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology.  Nate holds a Professional Engineer’s license in Ohio as well as CHFM certification from the American Hospital Association.
