Due to this increased demand and wide acceptance of telemental health services, design and construction solutions need to adapt to the mass adoption of this platform. This webinar examines how behavioral health facilities can prepare for the future of mental healthcare delivery.  

This webinar offers a case study of IU Health Bloomington Hospital. One of the main challenges of this project was creating a flexible space that was safe and secure, but highly focused on hospitality and positive patient environments. This team discussed the ideal vision for the unit with the client and through intentional communication and focused listening, a plan was developed by the staff which Guidon implemented into a program space and floor plan. Using 3D modeling and mock-up, the team developed a thorough understanding of the integrated case work.

It reflects the coordinated and on-going efforts of a team of individuals to advance it from its initial stage -- as an AIA Design for Aging Knowledge Community white paper to push for revisions to the Americans’ with Disabilities Act – to a two-phase, comparative analysis study of elders living in nursing homes, and then to efforts to get the results included in revised codes and guidelines.  

This webinar will focus on how we can use the elements of biophilic design to create meaningful work and restorative spaces to support staff in various environments within the healthcare workplace. Biophilic principals and case studies will be shared.

This webinar will: describe case studies of a new Penn State Hospital and show how a community art committee guided a major art program to express equity and inclusion by highlighting local artists of color and subjects relating to diversity, tell real stories about how medical centers are using the arts to manage burnout for clinical teams, provide an overview of newly released Core Curriculum on Arts in Health that will offer both artists and health care administrators, guidance on professionalizing the field as well as lead to certification for those working in the field, and include a short review of current literature published on the benefits of Arts in Health throughout the healthcare continuum. 

This webinar presents findings from an international study of visual artwork in hospitals around the globe. Through the dual lens of an artist and healthcare professional, Rollins identifies 15 specific 'purposes' of visual artwork in hospitals and presents a compelling case for their use that is grounded in research. A broader understanding of the many functions of artwork in hospitals is hoped to encourage greater variety in art offerings to better serve the many diverse needs of patients, families, visitors and staff within the hospital environment.

This webinar will review two separate behavioral health units, one constructed with typical acoustical ceiling tile panels and one with a new acoustic gypsum wallboard ceiling assembly with a similar noise reduction coefficient. A comparison of these two facilities’ acoustic testing results will be discussed along with security concerns, owner requirements, and possible design solutions for this particular sector of healthcare design.
